Apple/Mac Technician

IDEaS Computers is currently looking to expand into the Apple/Mac market of products and services, and is looking for a qualified Apple/Mac Technician to satisfy our customers' needs. This is a full-time position that focuses both on support and customer service. The Apple/Mac Technician is responsible for supporting Mac computers and related equipment for customers and for providing technical expertise, experience and documentation/project coordination as required to install or repair hardware/software and resolve technical problems. This position has no supervisory duties.

Apple Certified Macintosh Technician (ACMT) Certification???

An ACMT Certification is not an absolute requirement for this position, but priority will be given; first, to individuals who have a current ACMT Certification, and second, to individuals who have possessed an ACMT Certification (but is not necessarily current). Fees for obtaining or renewing an ACMT Certification may be covered for the right individual by the employer, at the sole discretion of IDEaS Computers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.

  • Diagnose and repair hardware and software issues on client Mac’s using approved methods and processes.
  • Install hardware and software for clients.
  • Complete necessary internal and client related documentation as required on a daily basis.
  • Install/configure/repair network and local printers.
  • Train clients on basic computer knowledge.
  • Communicate and interact as required with end users and internal staff.

Qualification / Requirements

  • Intermediate knowledge of Mac desktop support.
  • Understands and is able to troubleshoot Apple hardware, Mac OS X, pro applications and other key Apple technologies.
  • Capable of performing OS X installations, upgrades
  • Capable of performing software and hardware installations and upgrade on Mac OS X environment
  • Experience with Mac OS Classic a plus
  • Intermediate knowledge of local and network printer support.
  • Basic knowledge of Networking, as it pertains to a Mac environment.
  • Customer service related experience.
  • Basic knowledge of ticket based tracking system.

Additional Requirements

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Dependable transportation.
  • Ability to work some nights and weekends and "on call" as required.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Employee is responsible to pay for all travel expenses with company reimbursement every two weeks.

Required Education, Training, and/or Experience

  • Minimum of two (2) years experience with Apple Mac OS X
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience with Mac and Macbook hardware.
